Selection Policy and Rules [3 Jul @ 11:00pm]

SELECTION RULES

1) Selection meetings take place each Wednesday after training at an appointed time.

2) As a Team Manager if you unable to attend it is essential that you arrange for someone from your team to attend on your behalf; alternatively you should inform in advance of the meeting the Chairman of the selection committee of your team.

3) It is imperative that each manager before attending the selection meeting knows of the availability of all his players, including those injured or away.

4) Only players that are available will be selected.

5) Each team starting with the 1st XI are selected on merit.

6) A player dropped from a higher side will be told so by the Manager dropping him and he will start for the lower side that week.

7) Players must play for the side they are selected - unless there are particular circumstances, in which case the Chairman of Selection will make the final decision.

8) If a player refuses to comply with this then he cannot be selected for any other side.

9) Team managers must make every effort alongside an appointed person in the team to contact players confirming the game by Thursday lunchtime; this should be done via phone where possible to avoid players not being able to access there emails.

10) Any player booked or sent off must be notified to the Chairman of Selection and Hon Sec and the discipline rules in place will take effect.

11) The Chairman of Selection in the event of any dispute with regards the selection process makes the final decision.

CALL-OFFS

1) Players who call off without notifying their Managers will not be selected again until explanation given to Chairman of Selection.

2) Call offs can normally be catered for by having a squad of 14 (which isn't very often!)

3) Late call offs (cut off point is 12pm Friday)

4) We have a pool of players in the 8 Xls managers can promote those who don't have a game. Should be rotational allowing players to start in the side and progress between teams

5) Players should contact their respective Team Managers before the Selection Meeting if there is any doubt about availability.

6) Players who have not paid their membership fees or who have not paid outstanding fines will not be selected until payment is made.
