WHY BERLIN ?

1.     Well under 2 hours flying time.

2.     Lots of airlines service the city so good chance of reasonable  prices and various departure options

3.     Cheap city - visited in April ,very reasonable all round

4.     Young city, vibrant - loads of nightlife, restaurants etc etc

5.     History !! - Rich pickings for the culture vultures

6.     Good internal transport systems - very cheap tube system and easy to navigate

7.     English speaking - everyone speaks English !

SPORTING OPPORTUNITIES

1.     Visit Olympic stadium - OK so the design is a bit dubious?!but a must see for a visitor to Berlin

2.     If Hertha are playing then we get to see Bundersliga Footie

3.     Already have positive replies from two clubs with great facilities.

4.     Positive feedback from Hertha Berlin, a Div two side who have vets and amateur teams within their ranks.

5.     A football nation, so easy to organise matches

6.     To appeal to as many players as possible we will ensure that everyone who wants to play will get a decent run.

NB. The airlines know that they are going to sell their tickets on these routes and so the offers on group ticket purchase are minimal. If we get twenty lads on the 'official' tour we will get a decent accommodation rate and I can fix up games knowing we can get a team out. It is all about the players/games ratio. If some want to turn up on the Saturday and play a vets game or whatever and go home on the Sunday or Monday then they can we don't want to lose players for the whole tour just because they can’t take the Friday off.
